Program: Interdisciplinary PhD in Urban Design and Planning
Philippe Vaillant is a graduate of the Center of Advanced Spatial Analysis, at UCL, London. He also holds a Master’s degree in urban policies from Sciences Po Paris. He has mainly worked on transport behavior and big data analysis, using a wide variety of spatial and statistical tools.
In the urban ecology lab, his research focuses on urban rhythms, and in particular the discrepancies between social and natural rhythms. He investigates how fast and overwhelming environments impact the space-time structures of human beings and other species. He is also very interested in the role of new technology as it reframes our relationship with the natural environment.
